W. R. Bob
Johnston, the founder of Fordel, Inc. has been in all aspects of agriculture
his entire life. He has farmed cotton,
alfalfa, wheat, tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, lettuce, cabbage, onions and all
varieties of melons. His shipping
experience started in the early 1960’s out of Firebaugh, California. In 1969 he started Silver Creek Packing
with three partners and was the managing partner up until 1987 when he sold his
interest. In 1987 the company became a
fully integrated grower, packer and shipper of melons. Currently Fordel, Inc. grows, harvest,
ships and markets over 6000 acres of produce.
We are one of the nation’s largest growers and shippers of premium
quality melons and a major producer of sweet corn and broccoli. Fordel, Inc. is one of only a few produce
companies in the U.S. that is family owned and operated and has full vertical
integration of their operation.
Our products are
distributed throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Orient. We are in full control of the growing,
planting, harvesting, packing, selling and marketing of all our products. This allows us to ensure our customers that
every box that we ship meets our strict quality standards. We use “Scientific Certification Systems”
for our food safety inspections and are “Nutri Clean” certifying all of our
crops for the 2000 season. We operate
with very strict sanitary guidelines from field through loading process. All of our staff are dedicated to the goal
of ensuring the products and services that we produce are safe and the best
available on the market.
